A Tree House

This 3 bed semi needed some investment and has certainly been transformed. Sycamore were contracted to extend the rear, add a utility and upgrade the kitchen. At that time, little did we know our clients would also ask us to add a downstairs shower room, a front porch and convert the attic while we’re at it!! But the best decision was to deck their steep garden from the extension into the beautiful trees behind. It really feels like a tree house now.

Complete Home Renovation

This 70’s bungalow has been brought bang up-to-date with a total renovation and energy upgrade. Our clients focused on insulation throughout, new heating system, electrical upgrade, remodelled bathrooms featuring bespoke cabinetry, storage solutions and all the important finishes…And of course a beautiful new kitchen. Our signature pocket doors allow separation as required between the cosy living room and open kitchen/diner.  A home much improved thanks to expert guidance, quality carpentry and fine finishing.

New Build, New Home

Sycamore are delighted to present the first new build in our portfolio. We thank our clients for the opportunity to spread our construction wings. Lucky to be able to build on the rear site of their family home, we’ve helped them realise a long-held dream. It comes in the form of an A3 rated 150m2 bungalow in an established, leafy setting. The finished product is warm, inviting and of a high standard. We wish them comfort and happiness in their new home.

Extend Your Living Space

We were delighted to help our client transform her first home. Such a difference even a small extension can make to the way you use a space. Add great landscaping and look at it now! The best feature is the seamless floor transition, inside to out.
Most importantly the extension for improved living and dining space looks terrific and works hard. Complete with aluminium 4-part powder-coated grey centre sliders. For space saving we’ve included our signature pocket door at the hall and for light the 2 large low pitch Velux are impressive. While upstairs we did a shower room renovation and built-in bedroom storage solutions.

Back To Life

There’s nothing better than bringing an older property back to life. This home has years of family history in its fabric and is sure to gain many more years thanks to some T.L.C. from our clients. Sycamore started the restoration top down. We replaced the roof and pump-insulated the attic rafters. To really breathe new life into the house a rear extension was added for a modern new kitchen and dining area with custom rooflight which transforms the light and use of space. The old house was re-wired and re-plumbed throughout including new radiators, a gas condensing boiler & pumped tank in the attic. Finishing off with two new shower rooms which are bang up to date with a lot of thought and personal touches. We wish our clients many more years to put their own mark on this slice of history.

Two storey extension & reconfiguration

Adding more rooms is one thing but re-configuring the existing to make the most of the new is where the real work is. This two storey side extension introduces well-proportioned rooms for a main bed upstairs and living room downstairs, with new glazing to match the existing. A clever reconfiguration of the awkward entrance and narrow stairwell became a welcoming hall leading upstairs to a bright open landing. We added a modern bathroom by converting the box bedroom. The real difference came with the addition of a roof light over the landing to bring in much needed light and a sense of space and height. So everything just works better now. Updated services and insulated walls mean it’s more energy efficient too. Last but not least, the unused side passage became a new storage shed for all the outdoor gear.

Let There Be Light

Clever thinking here between our clients and their architect around reconfiguring this two bed terrace back to three. The home feels rejuvenated and everything has it’s place and purpose. They’ve achieved an overall sense of space and flow throughout and a terrific paint job brings it all together.
The box room had previously been turned into a bathroom but our clients needed the bedroom back. By stealing a little of the main bed, the architect was able to create a landing and new bathroom and return the third bedroom. Much-loved original doors were matched to retain the character. By replacing the solid wall with a bannister we opened up the landing to allow movement between the new spaces and of course we added light! Lots of light!
The new bathroom is bang up-to-date and feels spacious. A skylight is positioned over the bath so that light is diffused over the sink and mirror rather than being directly over it.
Downstairs we widened the double doorway to create a better flow from kitchen to dining room and on to the back garden. The half wall maintains a little separation without needing to remove a load bearing wall and so did not require steel works. This minor but clever alteration improves functionality and flow and generally enhances and modernises the space.

Improvement Ideas Brought to Life

Often space is the issue but not this time. However, a few things needed some attention and reconfiguration in this family home. Difficult to heat and keep warm, we started by dry lining the external walls, insulating the floors upstairs and upgrading the heating system. The one thing missing for this family was an extra shower for busy mornings. We turned the cramped office & neighbouring WC into a brand new shower room downstairs. The original 70’s staircase was given a make over by John, The Handrail Man (handrailman.ie). He worked with the clients to design a bannister with an oak handrail and glass panels. Bright and welcoming.

Talk About Transformation

Talk about a blank canvas! Our clients have cleverly given life to this 2 bed bungalow. Clear on their vision they have applied a few simple but effective improvements and modernised this home to enjoy for years to come.
To start, we opened up living space by taking out the wall between the kitchen and front room, allowing a generous room with defined areas for living, dining and cooking. The updated kitchen (by Kitchen World) has everything you’d need and an inviting aspect to the completely landscaped courtyard.
The heating has been upgraded throughout with a new boiler and new radiators. The original back boiler was removed from the chimney breast and a new fireplace (by The Living Room) installed for maximum cosiness.
Of course the bathroom needed complete remodelling and now boasts a rain head shower and touch operation vanity mirror.
Munster Joinery supplied the replacement doors and windows with energy efficient glazing bringing in much-needed light to show off the revived space.
This home has been given a new lease on life and a Mediterranean style courtyard to boot!
